Who can get a free flu vaccine
Groups usually eligible for a free NHS flu jab from a pharmacy include:
- Adults aged 65 and over
- Adults aged 18 to 64 with certain long-term health conditions, such as diabetes, heart, lung or kidney disease
- Pregnant women
- People who live with someone with a weakened immune system
- Carers and frontline health or social care workers
When to have it
Flu spreads most over winter, so it's best to have the vaccine in the autumn, before cases rise. You can still have it later in the season.
Having your flu jab with us
We check you're eligible and that the vaccine is suitable, then give the injection in your upper arm. It takes a few minutes. We let your GP practice know so your record stays up to date.
If you're also due a COVID-19 vaccine, you can often have both at the same visit.
