Pharmacy First

Pharmacy First lets our pharmacist assess and, where needed, treat seven common conditions, including with prescription-only medicines such as antibiotics. You don't need to see your GP first.

Free on the NHS. Appointments take about 15 minutes.

Who it's for

  • Sinusitis (age 12 and over)
  • Sore throat (age 5 and over)
  • Earache (age 1 to 17)
  • Infected insect bite (age 1 and over)
  • Impetigo (age 1 and over)
  • Shingles (age 18 and over)
  • Uncomplicated urinary tract infection (women aged 16 to 64)

How it works

  1. 1Book a time online or walk in.
  2. 2The pharmacist asks about your symptoms in our private consultation room.
  3. 3If you need treatment, we supply it there and then. If not, we'll advise you or refer you on.

Questions

Is Pharmacy First free?

Yes. The consultation is free. If you're supplied a medicine, the usual NHS prescription charge applies unless you're exempt.

Can I walk in instead of booking?

Yes. Booking just means you won't have to wait if the pharmacist is busy.

What if my condition isn't on the list?

Come in anyway. We can still give advice and over-the-counter treatment, or point you to the right service.
